On Tuesday, February 7, the Ambassador of Germany in Ukraine, Ernst Reichel was invited to the foreign Ministry of Ukraine. About it reported in a press-service of the Ministry of foreign Affairs, the TV channel “112 Ukraine”.
During the meeting, the German diplomat pointed to the inadmissibility of holding elections in the occupied territories of Donbass in the presence of Russian occupation troops.
“It was confirmed a clear and consistent position of Ukraine that such elections should be held only after the withdrawal from Ukraine of the units of the Russian armed forces, and creating security of such prerequisites, which would enable the Donbass free and democratic elections with the adherence to the OSCE standards and Ukrainian legislation”, – stated in the message.
The foreign Ministry added that Ukraine highly appreciates the efforts of official Berlin, including in the Normandy format, aimed at the return of peace in the Donbass and the cessation of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
Earlier, the Ministry of foreign Affairs summoned the German Ambassador Ernst Reichel for an explanation for his statements regarding the settlement in the Donbass.
We will remind, recently the Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Ukraine Ernst Reichel said that the elections in the occupied territory of Donbass is possible before the withdrawal of the Russian military units.
