The United States will not lift sanctions against Russia until, until it is returned to the Crimea and will not stop Russian aggression against Ukraine, said the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
“The sanctions the United States against Russia will continue. During a meeting with U.S. President Donald trump received a clear confirmation that the sanctions against Russia will not be removed until until it is returned to the Crimea and will not stop Russian aggression against Ukraine”, – wrote Poroshenko on his page on the social network Facebook following the meeting with the US President Donald trump on Tuesday in Washington.
“Today, States are taking additional sanctions almost every day. I see the position of the United States of America as a solid, reliable and strategic partner of Ukraine”, – said Poroshenko during a briefing, answering a question of journalists, whether received by the head of the Ukrainian state a clear confirmation from the U.S. President that sanctions against Russia will not be removed until until it is returned to the Crimea and will not stop Russian aggression against Ukraine.
This Poroshenko noted that today’s meeting confirms the strong willingness of the U.S. to support Ukraine.
“We have received strong support from the United States, the support and respect of sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of our state, and strong support for the continuation of reforms in Ukraine”, – said Poroshenko.
Besides, as reports a press-service of the President of Ukraine, during negotiations, the parties discussed issues of economic cooperation, in particular cooperation in the nuclear energy sector, the oil and gas sector, purchases of American coal, to continue cooperation on renewable energy and the like.
Separately, the parties discussed cooperation between Ukraine and the United States in the military-technical sphere. “The President gave clear instructions so we have extended our cooperation”, – said Poroshenko.
“The agenda was very broad. I am fully satisfied with the outcome of negotiations and extremely grateful to President Trump and Vice-President of Pensions and the Ministers, with whom meetings were held, in a very solid position of support of our state”, – concluded the President of Ukraine.
