Russia expects that Donald trump would show the unostentatious desire to make the world a safer place, told reporters on Saturday the first Deputy head of the defense Committee of the Federation Council of Russia Frants Klintsevich, according to RIA Novosti.
“Russia expects from the forty-fifth American President any favors. Sober, unbiased look at the realities of the XXI century, understanding that Russia has its own interests and capabilities to defend them, unostentatious desire to make the world a safer place – that’s what we expect from Donald trump, and that is enough to make Russian-American relations have become normal,” — said Klintsevich.
He suggested that the newly elected President of the United States “will not do sharp movements” immediately after taking office. According to Russian Senator, this would be not only reasonable, but also quite appropriate for the style of decision-making, which developed trump decades.
“Politics to trump a new challenge, and he needs time to himself to thoroughly understand the situation, without relying on any consultants to develop its own position,” — said Klintsevich. “Honestly, we did not expect that Russian-American relations might have something to change dramatically. It is a process that even in the best case will go step by step”, he concluded.
As reported previously in an interview, trump said that no plans to immediately lift the sanctions against Russia, but does not exclude that it will happen in the future.
