View themselves only as victims of Russian aggression, Ukraine will not help. To create a strong position in the West Ukraine should become the country’s economic success. In an interview with UKRINFORM told the co-chair of the group of strategic advisors to support reforms in Ukraine Leszek Balcerowicz.
“If Ukraine wants to have a stronger position in the West, it should be a country of success. The view itself only with the position of the victim will not help – it’s simply not enough. Ukraine needs to show itself as the country’s economic and institutional success,” said Balcerowicz.
According to him, Kyiv must demonstrate effective control of corruption, political stability and reformist work of the ruling coalition.
“Economic reforms are important for Ukraine’s security as an argument in international politics. At the same time they have a lot to say. Need convincing: despite the fact that we are victims of Putin’s policies, we reformiruetsya and achievable goal,” – said the former head of the national Bank of Poland.
Balcerowicz stressed that economic reform is also important for Ukraine’s security because without a strong economy there can be no strong army.
He also stressed that Russia is most afraid of the fact that democratic Ukraine was not a country of success, because it will be for them a bad example.
“So, this is an additional incentive for Ukraine remains a democratic country with a history of success,” – said the Polish reformer.
Earlier, Balcerowicz said that the growth of the minimal wage in Ukraine has surprised the international experts.
