DTEK joined the international alliance for a gradual transition to carbon-free energy The company aims to preserve the potential of existing enterprises by creating a new niche for them in the transforming electricity market  announced the expansion of the coal phase-out initiative. 165 participants, DTEK was the first among Ukrainian companies to join. The company intends to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040, which supports the global fight against climate change, “DTEK said. </p>
<p>They said that, according to the International Energy Agency, in order to avoid the worst effects of climate change, all countries and companies need to stop building coal-fired power plants, as well as the countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization by 2030 to abandon existing power plants and the rest of the world by 2040. </p>

<p>“This is a reality and a requirement of modern society – to accelerate the transition to a carbon-free future. DTEK is investing in the construction of solar power plants and wind farms, the development of energy storage systems, the modernization of electric grids, and is exploring the possibilities of hydrogen production,” said Dmitry Sakharuk, Executive Director of DTEK. </p>
<p> According to him, the company's goal is to preserve the production potential of existing enterprises, creating a new niche for them in the transforming electricity market. </p>
<p> for efficient coal mining, is phasing out the operation of the mines. At the same time, the company helps the communities where coal mining enterprises operate in developing a roadmap for creating employment outside the industry. </p>
<p> As a reminder, DTEK is actively increasing its green generation capacity; DTEK has invested 1.8 billion in the construction of solar and wind power plants. In addition, the company is developing Energy Storage energy storage systems, exploring the possibility of implementing hydrogen projects in Ukraine. </p></p>
