The expert said, who can replace Kuchma, the Contact group

The second President of Ukraine is not the first time leaving the negotiating team

Care Leonid Kuchma of the Trilateral contact group (TAG) could be due to a number of reasons, and candidates for his place in the negotiations on the Donbass can be several. This was said in comments to the website, “Today,” political analyst Vadim Karasev.

The first and probably the main reason he calls the age of the second President of Ukraine, which is August 9 will be 81 years old.

“It’s still a very respectable age. Second, the negotiations are conducted via Skype. But Kuchma used to direct communication. This generation is not Skype, this generation of a different negotiation type, for whom important personal contact. The third reason for me, so in the negotiations once all comes to an end: either they will end in nothing, or will some kind of breakthrough. And it may be that he does not want to take responsibility for the lack of results. Or to take responsibility for the result, which does not coincide with his vision”, – said Karasev.

Another possible reason, according to the analyst, can be intensifying negotiations with the Ermak – Kozak (head of the Office of the President of Ukraine – the Deputy head of the presidential Administration of the Russian Federation).

“Kuchma is also here as if to answer for all, but not directly participating – is not a very comfortable position,” – said the analyst.

“The futility of exhausting”: the expert explained why Kuchma left of the TAG

About who can replace Kuchma as the head of the delegation in the pipeline, the analyst said it should be someone with great diplomatic experience or political weight.

“Perhaps it will be Oleksandr Motsyk (Ukraine’s former Ambassador to USA), may, Alexander Chaly. Maybe expresses their desire Volodymyr Horbulin. That is needed or diplomatic experience, or weight – still on the other side are the “bison” sit. It is hard to guess, I think soon we will hear the name of the successor” – summed up the MP.

Recall that in September 2018 Kuchma decided to refuse participation in the negotiation process in Minsk, explaining his decision to the critical age. Replaced it with Yevhen Marchuk, who represented Ukraine in the subgroup of the TAG security. However, on 3 June 2019 Zelensky again hooked it up to the negotiations. Then Kuchma explained why he decided to return to the “Minsk process”.
