“Estonian” and “Russian” areas: is nationality plays a crucial role in the choice of area of residence? (Delfi, Estonia)

According to research by Professor of geography, University of Tartu Tiit of Tammaru if Estonians prefer to choose the center of Tallinn, the Kalamaja region, the Russian speakers settled in the Eastern part of Tallinn, lasnamäe and the surrounding area. However, unless the nationality plays a crucial role in the choice of area of residence?

On the one hand, I can agree that people keeps much attachment to the place where they grew up or spent his youth. Here everything is familiar to them, and over the years infrastructure has improved, so why not choose a new apartment in a familiar neighborhood, even if the family income had improved. On the other hand, I think that the analysis areas from the point of view of nationality, the people living there, is applicable to the old housing.

If we look at the proposals in new areas, where the price for the apartment can vary from several hundred thousand to a million euros, it will be obvious that when buying a property the question of nationality comes second. And the main determining factor is not how your name and who you work for and what your income is.

So I would be interested to get acquainted with the research that would, that is, dug deeper and had a comparative analysis of the revenues and the jobs, first and foremost, determine who is in what district he lives.

And until, until this study no, you can look at the statistics, which States that:

1. The income of men is higher than women
2. The income of people with higher education is higher
3. The income of people whose native language is Estonian also higher

So, anyway, just from the question of nationality is also to leave does not work. Another question is whether perfect knowledge of Estonian to level all in the labour market?
