The unprecedented decision: the ECHR refused to lift the immunity of former MP Logoiskogo

The court also accused NAB of violations of international law

The European court of human rights (ECHR) issued an unprecedented decision that denied Ukraine the immunity of George Logoiskogo, former MP (people’s front) and husband of judge of the ECHR Anna Yudkivska. This is the first decision in the history of the Court, which he refused to lift immunity, which protects close relatives of the judges of the ECHR (current and former). About it reported in a press-service of the court, writes “European true”.

Simultaneously, the Court stated that it saw in the actions of the National anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) violations of international law.

“Some of the investigative activities undertaken by the NAB — including covert surveillance, were spread on Logoiskogo with a clear intention of gathering evidence against him and investigate him,” — said in the ECHR.

Recall that the Ukrainian investigators were trying to deprive Logoiskogo international protection in the framework of the investigation of a fraudulent scheme (business “Golden Mandarin”), according to which Ukraine paid UAH 54 mln private company, “Golden Mandarin” by the decision of the ECHR.
