American nuclear company Westinghouse declares that it is ready to supply nuclear fuel to all nuclear power plants of Ukraine. This was announced by Vice-President and managing Director of Westinghouse Aziz Dag, transfer “Ukrainian news”.
“In the current contract with national nuclear energy generating company Energoatom is written that can be delivery to all the units of Ukraine. Westinghouse is ready to fulfill this clause of the contract. We will be happy to do it and are ready to fulfill such a request “Energoatom” if she will go,” said Doug.
He added that currently the company has plans to expand fuel supplies to Ukraine and will soon need to start negotiations on the extension of the contract with Energoatom, the term of which ends in 2020.
He also said that Westinghouse will supply nuclear fuel to not serial unit number 1 South Ukrainian NPP (Yuzhnoukrainsk, Mykolaiv region) and the power units of type VVER-440 Rovno NPP (Varash, Rivne region)
We will remind, earlier the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that Ukraine in 2017 should reduce the share of procurement of nuclear fuel in Russia to 45%. According to Poroshenko, the diversification of sources of supply of nuclear fuel for Ukrainian NPPs is an important goal to ensure the energy security of the country.
