The construction of new runway of the Odessa airport can be solved during a visit in Odessa, Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman, scheduled for 8 September. About it in his column on the website of “Commander in chief” wrote political analyst Andrei Zolotarev.
“Since yesterday, the media began to walk the information that the Cabinet of Ministers decided to allocate money for the construction of a new runway of the Odessa airport. I would like very much to hearing about the allocation of money for the construction of a new runway and will soon begin work turned out to be true. We are talking not only about launching a full-fledged airport in Odessa region, and create some more air gates across the country,” he said.
According to experts, the Odessa airport is not able to receive large aircraft including from-for insufficient lengths of runway paintings. So the world’s major airlines are physically unable to establish air communication with Kyiv. At the same time, the arrival of new foreign airlines, including low-cost airlines will create competition between airports in Ukraine and additional tourist flows into and within the country.
“It is strange in this situation is different. Information about the surprise of the media began to spread with reference to the mayor of Odessa Gennady Trukhanov, not having to this question is absolutely irrelevant. If anyone could confirm this info, so is the Governor of the region Maxim Stepanov, who when appointed to office in January of this year, the President instructed to deal and resolve the issue, and who made the beginning of construction of the runway of the Odessa airport to your action plan in 2017. But in the Odessa regional administration on this matter is still silent,” said Zolotarev.
As reported, during the presentation of the new Chairman of the Odessa regional state administration Maxim Stepanov on 12 January 2017, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko drew attention of the head of the region on the need to begin construction of the new runway of the Odessa airport this year.
The construction of the runway of the Odessa airport is being implemented under the Strategic action plan “Smart region”, which was presented by Chairman of the Odessa regional state administration Maxim Stepanov in March 2017, and is one of its key priorities.
Plans to build a new runway of the Odessa airport was first announced back in 2012, when the government of Mykola Azarov promised to build a new runway by 2015. To begin construction of new Vzletka Odessa airport in 2016, also promised the former Governor of the Odessa region Mikhail Saakashvili. None of these plans were not implemented.
