The Chernobyl nuclear power plant began testing nuclear fuel

GSP “the Chernobyl atomic power station” on August 1 launched the first phase of integrated tests of a repository for spent nuclear fuel No. 2 (ISF-2). This was reported by the press service of the State Agency for exclusion zone management.

The beginning of “hot” testing ISF-2 spent nuclear fuel is scheduled for December of this year.

As reported, the ISF-2 is intended for reception, preparation and storage of spent fuel assemblies and additional absorbers accumulated at the Chernobyl NPP, within the next 100 years.

We will remind, in the beginning of June in Chernobyl, earned the first hostel – it is designed for 100 visitors.

As you know, the Ministry of environment of Ukraine is negotiating with investors on the placement of solar power plants in the Chernobyl exclusion zone.
