The Secretary of the Supreme national security Council of Iran, noting the need to respect national sovereignty of the Syrian state with all countries and forces involved in the Syrian conflict, said: “no agreement shall have as their primary goal or to create the ground for the territorial division of Syria, this fundamental principle, to violate which is unacceptable.”
As informs news Agency IRNA, citing a press-service of the Supreme national security Council, Ali Shamkhani also touched upon the topic in conversation with Alexander Lavrentiev, the special representative of the President of the Russian Federation on Syria.
Shamkhani, putting to the aspirations of the Zionist elements in Israel to undermine the territorial sovereignty of the Syrian state and to attack the political positions and the security forces of the resistance, added: “the Zionist circles, being in constant and close contact with terrorist groups and States that have them, tend to use the actions of these groups, to support the so-called “sanctity of Israel’s borders” and periodically conduct punitive actions against the oppressed people of Palestine.”
Along with this, the Secretary of the Supreme national security Council expressed concern at the actions of certain terrorist and extremist groups seeking to hide behind the ceasefire and abuse of the political negotiations, using them as an excuse to get a break and regroup their own forces. He also recalled: “As experience has shown, for similar items any arrangements and agreements are nothing more than empty words. They will continue to use them only to continue terror of the civilian population and achieve their inhumane, inhuman goals.”
As noted by the Secretary of the Supreme national security Council of Iran, a political initiative of the three countries [Iran, Russia and Turkey — approx. transl.] and talks in Astana is a successful mechanism that can be used as a model to tackle regional conflicts, with the involvement of the potential that gives a broad coalition of indigenous multinational force.
The special representative of the President of Russia Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev in the course of the meeting, in turn, told about the Russian-American agreement on the establishment of zones of de-escalation in the South West of the Syrian Arab Republic, which also joined the Jordan, and answered arising questions about this.
Lavrentiev, pointing to the decisive role of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Russia and Syria in a real fight against terrorism, added: “it had the overall strategic partnership of the three countries will continue at full scale until the final victory over the coalition of terrorism and extremism in the region.”
