Stoltenberg: NATO will never recognize the annexation of Crimea

NATO delegation arrived in Ukraine to demonstrate their solidarity and to emphasize support to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. This, speaking in Parliament, said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

“For the first time after the Second world war, one European country has annexed part of another – and did it by force. This policy has destroyed decades of progress. NATO does not recognize and will never recognize the illegal and illegitimate annexation by Russia of the Crimea”, – he stressed.

Stoltenberg said that Russia is trying to destabilize the situation in Ukraine by supporting militants in the Donbas, cyber attacks, disinformation, and the presence of Russian troops in Ukraine.

“Both Europe and North America unequivocally condemn the actions of Russia, and we support the policy of economic sanctions. Russia must withdraw its forces and military equipment from internationally recognized territory of Ukraine”, – concluded the Secretary General of NATO.

We will remind, the day before during a visit to Kiev U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson said that the Washington will not lift Russia sanctions until Moscow withdraws from the occupied territory of Ukraine.
