Vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Iryna Gerashchenko informed the European parliamentarians about the tense situation in the Donbas and the failure of Russia to the agreement on a cease-fire. She spoke about it during the floor debate in the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the press service of BP.
She noted that representatives of the Russian Federation do not fulfill any point of the Minsk agreements and disregard the provisions of the adopted PACE resolutions, which, among other things, require Russia to immediately release the hostages and political prisoners.
“To date, in ORDA illegally detained Ukrainian 132. Recently, we became aware of the detention of Ukrainian journalist Stanislav Ageev on the temporarily occupied territories of Donbass”, – said Gerashchenko.
She also informed the Europeans about regular ceasefire violations in the Donbas from fighters, controlled by Russia, which in particular threatens terrible environmental consequences for the region.
“Almost every day in the East of Ukraine are exposed to attacks of the infrastructure and industrial facilities, destroyed power lines and water supply. We appeal to European countries to pay special attention to the ecological situation in the Donbass, and the required access of international monitoring missions on the occupied territory in the Donbas and in the Crimea”, – said Gerashchenko.
Note that as of today, the militants continue to disrupt the “bread peace”, attacking positions of the Ukrainian military.
