The operator of the Ukrainian gas transportation system (GTS) “Ukrtransgas” announced the opening of a customs warehouse for temporary storage of gas in Ukrainian underground storage (UGS). About it reports a press-service NAK “Naftogaz Ukraine”.
“The first step towards the creation of a Ukrainian gas hub made. … Now the gas suppliers can deliver gas for the next season in the summer and not to customs clearance it while it is not required. In the summer there is available transport capacity, and the gas is usually cheaper. And if you take a lot of cheap gas, and consumers can count on low rates”, – noted in “Naftogaz”
The company noted that this service may also be of interest to traders from Eastern Europe, after Poland and Romania, and Bulgaria are experiencing a shortage of storage capacity of gas and has already announced investments in their expansion.
“The volume of Ukrainian underground storage facilities, which can be dedicated to providing storage services (about 15 billion cubic meters), exceed the total capacity of underground storages of these countries and is able to provide the required storage gas to the whole of Eastern Europe. Ukraine is a reliable partner of the EU in the transit of gas and ready to offer new convenient services to the Union companies,” – noted in the “Naftogaz”.
We will remind, earlier the Deputy Minister of energy and coal industry of Ukraine Igor Prokopiv stated that the creation in Ukraine of a gas hub need to revise the tariffs for storage and point of the frame.
