Armed with a knife man holds hostages in the job center in Newcastle in the North East of England, according to local police.
According to police, several hostages are employees of the job center Job Centre Plus.
“The police found the man with a knife entered the room. Probably there kept several employees. Several other employees left the building,” police said on Twitter.
The nearest metro station is Byker was evacuated and closed, police said.
At the moment, no injuries were reported.
