Ukraine can start purchasing gas from Romania

If Russia will stop gas supplies through Ukraine and the lose of reverse gas from Poland, she will buy gas from Romania or via the LNG terminals. About this today during the Second Polish-Ukrainian gas conference was declared by the Deputy Minister of energy and coal industry of Ukraine Igor Prokopiv.

“Romania produces more than it consumes. This is our southern corridor,” said Prokopiv.

In addition, each year before the heating season is pumped into storage of 14-17 billion cubic meters of gas (the so-called “safety cushion”) with a total capacity of 30 billion

“While we see no threat that we will have nowhere to buy gas,” – said the Deputy Minister.

Recall that Ukraine does not buy gas directly from Gazprom from November 2015. All this time the blue fuel is delivered via the reverse routes from Poland, Slovakia and Hungary.
