“Damn, why these people should be afraid of weapons?”

In the profession of Per öberg (Pär Öberg) — electrician, but first and foremost he is one of the main strategists of the Nordic resistance movement. They called themselves national socialists. Since September of last year, the VG journalists met several times with the leadership of this organization.

Not long ago correspondents NRK went to Dalarne in Sweden to talk Öberg on the confiscation of weapons and training with weapons in this movement. But even before the interview started öberg shouted “go to hell!” and walked away.

We öberg, representative of the Nordic resistance movement, said that “from my point of view, people should be a weapon”.

“To carry a gun — a sensible idea for Scandinavian men and Scandinavian women. This can be a hunting weapon or a weapon to defend the bridge or his family from enemy attack to which we in the free Scandinavian countries today have to be ready.”

VG: the police security Service considers it a dangerous situation when the people who represent the ideology of violence, is a weapon.

Per öberg:
This service is poorly aware of our ideology. To call it our organization advocating violence is absolutely not true. Imagine that the great interest of man in life is hunting. Do I need to take the gun from him because of his political views?

Öberg on time stops.

— I want to add something else. Imagine what would have happened if on Utoya was a lot of armed people… They would just shot Anders Behring Breivik (Anders Behring Breivik). Instead, they all sat quietly like a helpless target.

— But it was mostly children?

Children, children… It was mostly young people.

— Do you have a permit to carry weapons?

— Such questions I do not answer. If we are going to talk about it, we can go to jail. Although our organization is legitimate, behind our phones and emails being watched. We can’t say what they want, though we are just ordinary fathers of families, trying to do something good for his people.

— And you yourself are willing to take someone else’s life?

— Of course, because I’m a hunter.

According to the Swedish magazine Expo, the Nordic resistance movement considers itself as “an elite unit of Nazism.” The survey conducted among 159 the most active Swedish members of the movement, shows that in 2015 alone, a quarter of the members of the organization have been convicted of violent acts or violations of the law on carrying weapons.

Currently, three members sit in jail Gothenburg on suspicion of organizing the explosions. Representatives of the security police, said in an interview with NRK that fear, as if someone had a desire to organize such acts.

“If the organization will continue to grow in Norway, the probability of collisions with violence between people within the organization, and their opponents will increase,” says terrorism expert Jakob Ravndal (Jacob Ravndal) in an interview with VG.

In October last year, a man of 28 years died after a demonstration in Helsinki in Finland.

VG — the only newspaper that for the preparation of journalistic material was present in the ranks of the Nordic resistance movement to demonstrate in Stockholm, where more than 600 activists marched with shields and flags surrounded by police, while thousands of their opponents, too, who conducted the demonstration, and threw stones and flares.

In the sky above them was flying a police helicopter.

We were under the stage right in front of the Swedish Royal Palace, when the activists chanted with outstretched hand and a clenched fist: “long live victory!” After that, they are one group, accompanied by police went to the subway station “Gamla Stan”, shouting: “Scandinavian revolution!”

In the middle of this group was insignificant person in his thirties. He was wearing a green anorak and Hiking pants as if they were going into the woods.

It was Forward Norwegian Haakon (Haakon Forwald), former assistant Director of the bookstore near the municipality of Asker. Today he is the head of the Norwegian wing of this movement.

As a teenager he played bass guitar in the music of black metal band Dispril, which released one album. Image on the cover was reminiscent of the nationalism and the Second world war.

“There was a scandal, as a result, I began to ask questions. African Americans rap about drugs and rape — and anything when it comes from them, then everything is fine. This glorification of Vice — as if part of their self-determination, while everything that I perceived as healthy and positive, rigidly suppressed. Why? It was curiosity, maybe, and anger. Then I have not formulated their ideology. Just had a lot of thoughts. But when I eventually the Internet came to the resistance movement, the first thought was “Yes! I always thought so””.

Forward became the first Norwegian participant in the movement. For six years he created five different cells Norwegian national socialists throughout the country. According to a researcher of terrorism issues Jacob Randall in the last year, particularly rapid growth of interest was registered in Selanne.

“They have passed from the posting of flyers at night to open the action. Now they show their faces,” he says.

The next day after the demonstration in Stockholm Torvald sitting in the back seat of the car and talks about the development of the movement in Norway.

“For many years the nationalist group was just a subculture, whose members were mostly interested in alcohol and music. Now a radical change has occurred. We are professional social media presence, we have structure and hierarchy. We are organized and effective. Norway had never seen anything like it. Anyway, in the last time.”

According to Peer Öberg, Sweden, the organization began to grow especially rapidly after the influx of migrants in 2015.

“We began to join the business. Even police officers and journalists who lost their jobs. A pastor recently wanted to join us. In motion a lot of couples and families. All fully convinced that in our time there will be something significant. It’s great to be together, to work for it and at the same time to write the story.”

VG: do You mean revolution or civil war?

… and a new form of government in the Scandinavian countries.

Forward interrupts him: “Dreams about the civil war — it sounds, perhaps, not very fun?”

— I’m not dreaming about the civil war, and the new free North. But it will be painful.

VG: You want to merge Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland in one state. Want to make it happen through revolution?

Öberg:
I can’t say that we will start an armed revolution. Then we would be a terrorist organization. But we do not exclude any scenario.

We drive along a narrow road through the forest to Ludvika in Dalarna County. If öberg looks talkative and sociable, then Forward behaved and listens more, he was almost weary.

VG: According to your political Manifesto, you want to send from Sweden all non-ethnic Scandinavians. How it should happen in practice?

Öberg: the most humane conditions possible. We need to explain to these people that they would be better in their own natural environment.

— What will happen to those who do not obey? Apply power?

— If necessary, it is necessary to apply force. This is necessary to protect our own people.

— What power?

Oberg ends and Torvald says he doesn’t know. Ask what he thinks about guns. Says: “Theoretically… Yes.”

Soon before us appears Ludvika with residential complexes and villas dilerskogo in the middle of the forest. On one of the pedestrian crossings in the centre someone had carved a swastika.

In this place, moved some of the most famous right-wing extremists. Within a radius of approximately forty miles inhabited Emil Hagberg (Emil Hagberg), Per Sjogren (Pär Sjögren), Haakon Forwald and Per öberg, they are included in the main leadership of the Nordic resistance movement.

We pass the town hall, where the Per öberg is Deputy representative of the Board of the commune.

Extreme right-wing revival is fixed politically. In the summer they organize their first large demonstration in one of the Norwegian cities, apparently in Selanne.

“We will show that we are many and we are everywhere”, says öberg.

Included in one of the restaurants. They find a table and nod to a group of people sitting in the hall. Men lifted the tattooed hand in greeting.

Oberg asks the waiter how many in the food carbohydrates.

Later he orders a decaf coffee, because “I want to eat and live as naturally as possible”.

“We have a very gloomy view of the world. We believe that it is quite evil. So it’s good to meet people with whom we have common views and common values. So I live a life of luxury. Go to bed at night in a good mood, because I know that doing something meaningful”.

He looks up: “Probably I would have had more money, I choose something else. But is money happiness? Many people live a superficial life, sport and alcohol, a kind of bubble of Beverly hills. They take happy pills to be able to get up in the morning, they wander around like the walking dead. Is it good? Hand on heart: I am happy. I live a happy life”.

VG: What’s more important for the Nordic resistance movement?

Öberg: the survival of the nation. That is, the biological survival of the Scandinavian peoples.

Is it a big biological difference between the Scandinavians and others?

— The people, formed and tempered by the weather and wind for 12 thousand years… of Course. Only the strongest were able to procreate. Those who could not make a plan for the winter, stock up enough food and firewood, has died. Compare this with life in any African country where you should only lend a hand to pluck an orange from the tree, and drift. It is clear that these peoples evolved in very different ways. This is evident not only by the color of their skin but by nature. Therefore, we openly say that there are racial differences.

— Do you think that Africa is full of people who lie under a tree and eat fruit?

Yes.

Oberg looks at us.

— No, but there are many proud Africans, and these people we look down on. We don’t want to exploit them or to move into their country and stealing their natural resources. But Greenpeace wants to save all species in the sea — and we want to preserve our people.

— Forward, you said earlier that “the Nordic race is more valuable than all”. What do you mean?

Forward:
I said that for me it is the most valuable. Just as my family is more valuable to me than family friends. Or my children mean more to me than other people’s kids. This does not mean that I don’t like children.

— You said that you “believe Adolf Hitler one of the greatest men of the last century. A warrior who fought for the Aryan race and the future of Europe”.

Oberg: I may say So, there’s no mistake. What is your question? You’re just spouting out a bunch of facts!

Forward: Actually it is not I said it my wife said.

— Your wife said that Hitler was a great man?

— We gave an interview, and then she said.

— Do you agree with her by saying that Hitler was a great man?

— Yes, of course. So we believe.

— This is a very controversial statement.

— Yes, probably. But what we believe.

He looks out the window. In Ludvika evening came, the interview is over. Öberg said that he was from principle, almost never communicates with the media.

“They distort the truth and deliberately want to complicate our lives”.

Asked if we heard the story of 28-year-old Jimi the Jonas Karttunen, who died of a stroke after the demonstration in Helsinki.

After Karttunen beat feet and hit his head on the pavement, the Nordic resistance movement posted on its website a picture of him with the caption: “because of swearing, shouting and threats one of our activists was quickly forced to apply disciplinary measures.”

According to Öberg, the case was not presented correctly.

Oberg: the papers called it murder, but he actually died at home. He approached our activists spat and wanted to fight. I don’t know, kicked him or pushed, but he fell to the ground and hit her head hard, that he was taken to the hospital. A few days later he died. No one knows what, but it was just a tragic episode.

— Is whether you regret the news that it had to apply measures to comply with the order?

Forward:
What was wrong with what we wrote?

— But bad that he died?

— You can say so, but the intention to kill was not.

Right before the new year one of the activists was sentenced to two years in prison for the brutal use of force.

Öberg folds his hands on the table: “Look at it from our point of view: he could come to our activists and run into them with a brick or take out a knife. We should be able to defend itself.”
