26 may in Novodnestrovsk of Chernivtsi region began construction of the second stage of the Dniester pumped storage power plant (PSPP). Poured the first cubic meter of concrete in the structural elements of the station. Also was laid the symbolic capsule of the start of construction of the fourth hydraulic unit, – UNIAN reports.
Thanks to the installation of the fourth hydraulic unit will increase the installed capacity of the Dniester PSP to 324 MW in turbine mode and 421 MW in the pump mode. Power generation will reach 768 000 000 kWh per year. Build a 4th unit for own funds of OJSC “Ukrhydroenergo”.
The total investment exceeds 4, 5 billion hryvnia. Of these, more than 1.5 billion hryvnia will be spent on high-tech equipment of domestic production. In particular, the motor generator will supply the “Plant” Electrotyazhmash “(Kharkov), pump-turbine,” Turboatom”. 50% advance of “Turboatom” and “Electrotyazhmash” has already paid, the remaining 50% will be paid in June.
At the enterprises-suppliers will be employed more than 9,000 jobs.
The ceremony was held with the participation of Minister of energy and coal industry Igor Nasalik, General Director of OJSC “Ukrhydroenergo” Igor Orphan, Chairman of the Chernivtsi regional state administration Alexander Viduka and local government representatives.
“Today we have laid the capsule and began work on the fourth hydrounit. I think that is a great contribution to the unified energy system of our state”, – said the Minister of energy and coal industry Igor Nasalik. – “The third power unit is already helping us. We have adopted a programme of hydropower development in Ukraine and the new energy strategy of our country, which provides a significant increase in renewable energy, particularly hydropower. We signed a pledge by 2050, use only renewable energy. The first hydroelectric generator was built 28 years, the second three years, the third for two years and six months. It is hoped that the fourth Assembly will start working in 2019”.
The economic effect of the Dniester PSP by saving natural gas and coal today is more than $ 145 million a year. After the start of the fourth Assembly, this figure will increase by more than a third.
At the same time, the Minister noted that special attention will be paid to the social component, in particular to increase the salaries of the station’s staff and builders. It is planned to revise the social program for 2018.
Directly on-site in Sochi for a three-year construction will create 750 jobs. Most of them will take the locals.
Now the average wage at the Dniester PSP is more than 9000 hryvnias, while the average salary in the Chernivtsi region – 5136 UAH (average in Ukraine – 6752). The company also is one of the largest taxpayers.
“Last year we received 29 million UAH to the budget. This base, which allows us to hope that everything will be fine from all points of view. But most importantly, approved estimates and the construction, and it is jobs and salaries,” – said Anatoly Boldyrev, mayor of the city of novodnistrovsk.
Pumped storage power station such as the Dniester PSP allow you to store energy on an industrial scale, stabilize the system during peak loads. Thus, PSP is a key element of stability and security of the United energy system of Ukraine. The development of such maneuvering capacities in Ukraine in the programme of hydropower development, which the Cabinet approved in 2016.
“We can’t use traditional energy half a century, since sooner or later it runs out. For two or three months will make a decision on the design of the three units to build them at the same time,” – said General Director of JSC “Ukrhydroenergo” Igor Sirota. “And we’ll build just for 4-5 years, three more unit. We have enough experience to make such statements”.
