NATO needs to focus on terrorism and on the threats from Russia on the Eastern and southern borders of the Alliance. This was stated by the President of the United States Donald trump during a joint with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg speech in Brussels.
“Countries can unite to defeat terrorism – a common threat to all humanity. Terrorism needs to stop … We have to be very strict. We have to be very strong and we have to be very careful. NATO needs to focus on terrorism and immigration and the threats from Russia on the Eastern and southern border of NATO”, – he stressed.
Trump also said that members of NATO should assume the burden, and should allocate more funds for the Alliance.
“Many countries do not pay what they should pay, what is expected of them, to pay for the defense. Not fair to the taxpayers of the USA and other countries, which many paid in for many years in the past, while others do not pay.
The last eight years, the U.S. spend more on defense than other NATO countries combined. And if all countries are to allocate 2% of their GDP, we would have advanced 119 billion. in our collective defence”, – he stressed.
Earlier after the meeting with trump, the President of the European Council Donald Tusk said that the EU and the United States have a common position on the conflict in the Donbas.
