NATO will continue to support Ukraine in opposing Russian aggression in the Donbas. This was stated by chief of the General staff of Ukraine Viktor Muzhenko during a meeting with representatives of the Alliance, the press service of the defense Ministry.

The chief of staff of the APU was found in Brussels (Belgia) with NATO Deputy Secretary General rose Guatemalan and commander in chief of the United Armed Forces of NATO in Europe, General Curtis Scaparotti, which informed about the situation in the Donbas.

“The situation in Eastern Ukraine remains tense and is associated with the violation by militants of the progress of the Minsk agreements on the introduction of silence regime from 1 April and continued shelling of residential houses in the villages adjacent to the demarcation line. Russia continues to support terrorist groups in the Donbas with the help of the system of supply of fighters, ammunition and weapons, and uses the occupied territories as a testing ground for new weapons and military equipment”, – stated in the message of the Ministry of defense.

According to him, during both meetings the representatives of NATO reassured the Ukrainian delegation in the immutability of support from the Alliance in defending Ukraine’s right to independence, territorial integrity and inviolability of state borders.

In turn, the representative of Ukraine in the security subgroup of the Trilateral contact group Yevhen Marchuk said earlier that NATO will not fight Russia for Ukraine.
