Eurovision in Ukraine has paid off the media

Ukraine failed to recoup the costs to host Eurovision. Song contest brought the business about 500 million UAH revenues, said Director of the tourism Department of Kyiv city state administration Anton Taranenko. To prepare for the show Ukraine has spent more: 455 million UAH was allocated from the state budget, 200 million — from the budget of Kyiv. The costly part can be lower. The cost estimate includes 250 million UAH for the preparation of road infrastructure in the capital. According to the Kyiv state administration, the Eurovision song contest was attended by about 60 thousand tourists, of which about 20 thousand foreigners. Foreign visitors spent an average in the capital of 100-150 euros per day and four days left in Kiev about 12 million euros (360 million UAH), says Taranenko. Domestic tourists left in the city for about 800 UAH per day for the same four days brought to Kiev UAH 128 million.

To profits has failed and owners of restaurants. Institutions in Kiev, and near the metro station left Bank recorded a drop in attendance by about 20%. The growth of passenger flow in Boryspil was only slightly higher than on ordinary days. During the Eurovision in the main airport of Ukraine daily flew 27-28 thousand tourists, says General Director of the airport, Paul Ryabikin.
