The United States is ready to join the process of resolving the situation in the Donbas and put pressure on the Russian Federation, said the Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin.
“One of the main political signals is a real desire to join the pressure on Russia. There are some very interesting ideas, but only of them will be able to say later, when previously agreed with all our partners. And any highlights you will then negotiate with Germany and the newly elected President of France,” he said in an interview to “TSN.Tyzhden”, speaking about results of his meeting with US President Donald trump.
Klimkin noted that the US has the leverage, to be implemented jointly with the EU and other countries “big seven”. “It could be real policy signals. Of course, there are economic leverage, and sanctions are only one expression of what could be next,” he said.
According to him, we can talk about strengthening the international component in the Donbass, on the strengthening of the OSCE SMM, the establishment of another mission, which will “have effective control over the occupied territory of Donbass”.
