The European Union does not recognize annexation of Crimea by Russia, however, the parties believe that the Minsk agreements need to perform. This was stated by EU High representative for foreign Affairs and security policy, Deputy head of the European Commission Federica Mogherini following the meeting with Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, reports UNIAN.
She noted that during the meeting with Lavrov they had disagreements on the situation in Ukraine.
“We exchanged views that could be called systemic differences. I have stance of the EU’s principled position not to recognise the annexation of Crimea. This position is not only the EU but also of other partners. We have disagreements on the assessment of the situation in the East of Ukraine and “annexation” of the Crimea”, – said Mogherini.
She also noted that Lavrov discussed how you will run the Minsk agreement to end the conflict in Ukraine.
Earlier the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that his American counterpart Donald trump does not recognize Russia’s annexation of Crimea and supported the territorial integrity of the country.
