U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson really will visit Russia, where to meet with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov and Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was stated by U.S. Ambassador to Russia John Tefft during his visit to Arkhangelsk, Interfax reports.
The diplomat did not name the exact date, but assured that it will happen in the near future.
“You can see it (Tillerson. – Ed.) on a visit to Russia in the near future, I think, in order to hold meetings with foreign Minister Lavrov and President Putin,” – said Tefft lecture in the framework of the visit to Arkhangelsk.
He also noted that now the parties negotiate the details of a visit which, according to him, in fact, there is no delay.
Recall, the U.S. state Department confirmed that Rex Tillerson will visit Russia, where he will meet with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.
In turn, the former head of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Konstantin Grishchenko noted that the purpose of the visit of U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson in Russia will be “testing the waters” and will help to outline the contours of possible cooperation between the two countries.
