The bird flu virus H5N6 detected in Japan

Japanese authorities have revealed that a form of bird flu, previously recorded on poultry farms in the prefectures of Miyagi and Chiba, is the H5N6 virus.

The virus was discovered at two farms in the cities of Kurihara and Asahi, reports TASS.

Informed by the authorities of Niigata Prefecture was destroyed by about 310 thousand chickens on a farm in Sekikawa (there was a virus of the H5 series). For the same reason, in the Prefecture of Aomori in North East Japan were destroyed 18 thousand ducks.

Reports of the virus (in particular, strain H5N8) was reported from Germany, Denmark, Poland, Finland, Sweden, South Korea and other countries.
