Moscow has announced the re-taking of Palmyra Syrian army

According to Moscow, this Thursday the Syrian government forces re-took control of Palmyra. The city was recaptured from the militants of the “Islamic state” (a terrorist organization banned in Russia — approx.ed.) victims of another defeat. With the support of the Russian HQs are actively helping the regime in 2015, Syrian government troops on Wednesday entered the city. This oasis, located in Central Syria, once again found a new host. After the conquest of the IG in may 2015, the city was recaptured by the Syrian army in March 2016. But in December of the same year was again captured by the jihadists.

The Minister of Defence of Russia Sergey Shoigu said that the Syrian army has completed the operation to take control of Palmyra. “But as long as Syrian troops continue to clean the surroundings of mines and is not yet completely entrenched in the entire city,” the Director said Rami Abdel Rachman (Rami Abdel Rahmane), head of the Syrian Observatory for human rights. The district is the most famous ancient city of Syria, was a “densely mined,” said Syrian human rights activist.

For the militants, the loss of Palmyra was another serious defeat in the territories they conquered in Iraq and Syria in 2014. Now they are in a very difficult situation in Mosul and raqqa — their possessions in these countries.

The tense situation at the Turkish border

The situation continues to deteriorate in Northern Syria just a week after the capture of the Bastion of ISIS the city of al-Bab Turkish troops and their allies among the Syrian rebels. Having decided to strengthen his advantage, Turkey within a few days threatened to strike at Kurdish Syrian militias, if they did not leave Manbij, a city located near the Turkish border.

This city was captured from the insurgents by troops of the Democratic forces of Syria (DSS) with the support of the United States. They include the people’s protection Units Kurdish (ONS). “We have already said will, struck at compliance if they did not leave Manbij,” said the foreign Minister of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu. According to him, this should happen “as soon as possible”.

At the same time, the military Council Manuja, which is included in the BCA, said that government troops will be deployed in the buffer zone between them and Pro-Turkish rebels. “We agreed with Russia that will give control of the Syrian border villages located on the front line (military operations waged by Turkey), the shield of the Euphrates,” — said the military Council.

This statement is a complete surprise, because for the first time the rebels supported by Washington agrees to cede territory to the forces of Bashar al-Assad. One of the tasks of the players is taking control of Raqqa, the last stronghold of ISIS in Northern Syria.

The Kremlin considers the operation a diversion

Being far from the front, Moscow Thursday accused the main Syrian opposition group of trying to “sabotage” peace talks began in Geneva on 23 February, but still not moving. “Higher Committee on negotiations refuses to engage on equal terms with Moscow and Cairo groups, effectively sabotaging the dialogue with the delegation of the Syrian Government and other opposition groups,” — said Maria Zakharova, a spokesman for the Russian foreign Ministry. Cairo and Moscow groups of the Syrian opposition considered close to Russia. The opposition wants to discuss issues of political transition, while the Syrian government wants to basically talk about the fight against terrorism.
