Russia made a move to freeze the conflict in the Donbas on the model of Transnistria – Kuchma

The recognition by the Russian Federation “documents” of individual regions of Donetsk and Lugansk regions (ORDA) is the path to the frozen conflict like Transnistria, said the representative of Ukraine in the Tripartite contact group (TCG) on settlement of the situation in the Donbas, second Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma.

“In my opinion, Russia has decided to arrange in the post-conflict on the model of Transnistria, a frozen conflict. The situation with the “passport” is a step in this direction,” – said Kuchma reporters on Monday in Kyiv, answering the question of Agency “Interfax-Ukraine”.

He reminded that Ukraine stands firmly on his position: first, the solution of problems related to security in the East of the country, then all political problems.

“Russia sees it differently and Europe is looking” – said Kuchma.

In his opinion, “Russia is a difficult period of sanctions has already experienced” and able to find the “stitches-track”, which are necessary for the Russian market.

We will remind, on February 18, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the recognition in Russia of the documents issued to citizens of Ukraine and stateless persons residing in the occupied territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine.

In turn the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko called Putin’s decree on the recognition of passports and other documents of the so-called “DNR” and “LNR” violate international law and evidence of occupation of this part of Ukraine.
