Why pay so much for communal, and that will change: questions and answers

In Ukraine this year, utilities was a record expensive. Everything has risen in price: heating, electricity, hot and cold water. Ukrainians is the most expensive heating costs. According to experts, up to 70% of the amount in the payment – the cost of heat. “Today” has collected the answers to the main questions about the communal.

Why the amount of heating in different months differ?

If the high is heat – the amount of which “ran” in a month, divided between all the apartments. The bigger the apartment the more you have to pay. In this case, two typical high-rise buildings can consume a different amount of heat, it depends on the heat loss of the house. In the colder months the home consumes more capacity, in a relatively warm less.

If the house has no counter to pay for the rate of heating of one square meter, or by reading the average consumption in houses with meters. On average, according to experts, in houses with meters amounts in the payment for 30% less.

Heating will go up?

If the government implements the recommendations of the IMF and revise the price of gas, proportionately more expensive for Ukrainians and heating. However, at the moment it is still unknown whether the revised rates in 2017.

What to do to pay less?

The only solution is to create condominiums and to insulate your home. Insulation will reduce the amount in the payment 1.8 times. Comprehensive insulation of buildings (replacement of Windows and doors, insulation of walls and seams) is worth several million hryvnias. At this point almost every city has a program to support condominiums.

For example, in Kiev, 70% of the cost of insulation of a house are compensated from the city budget, and another 30% have to collect the tenants. On average, according to the Manager of the DTEK ESKO Sergei Svistun, each apartment will have to pay for winterizing your home just a few thousand.

Say that more expensive light. How many will now have to pay?

In the beginning of the year Ukrainians pay for each kWh when the consumption is less than 100 kW 71.4 penny, and from the first of March – 90 cents. If consumption more than 100 kWh each kWh until March, worth 129 cents, and after Mar – 168 cents.

The electricity tariff covers only 21.3% of its value, explained in NKREKU. Industrial enterprises pay extra for the population and kompensirovat additional expenses due to the final prices on their products. Last year the national Commission has decided to raise the tariff for Ukrainians to the level of costs.

Energy saving light bulbs are very expensive. They ever pay off?

If you change the light bulbs in the house, they will pay for themselves in less than a year. So, a lamp with a capacity of 0.022 kWh you can buy for 98 USD. For example, to replace all the bulbs in a Studio apartment (for one lamp in the kitchen, in the bathroom, the hallway and the bathroom and three in the chandelier in the room) will need 686 USD.

If the lamp power of 75 W in the hallway for two hours a day, in the toilet – an hour in the bathroom 3 hours in the kitchen – 5 hours in the room – 6 hours per month only for “light” typed 65,2 kW. At the same time, energy-saving lamps will spend in the same conditions 19 kW. At the moment, every kilowatt of 1.29 is the hryvnia (the consumption of more than 100 kW), and in March the rate will increase to 1.68 hryvnia.

So, for the “light” to March with the ordinary bulbs will have to pay 84,1, the hryvnia, and with energy saving – a total of 23.8 hryvnia. After March with the “new” lamps – 32 hryvnia, but with “normal” – 109,5 hryvnia. Changing all the lamps, every month you can save 77,5 hryvnia.

A two-zone counter?

Dual-zone meter is also off, but those who spend little energy to install it there is no point at consumption of 100 kWh, the counter will be recouped in five years.

Such a metering device from 23 PM to 7 am believes electricity at the rate of two times lower. The meter installation will cost around 1400 USD. For example, a family that consumes 200 kWh of electricity and 25% of the world uses, from 23 p.m. to 7 a.m., every month can save the 42nd hryvnia. Consequently, dual-zone meter will pay for itself in about three years.

And if you give up hot water to supply the boiler, I’ll be able to save?

No. Due to the growth of electricity rates to pay off the boiler in no time. Thus, the cost of the boiler is in the range of from 1500 to 7000 hryvnia. Water heater 80 liters and a power of 2500 watts (this volume is enough for a family of three) costs 5000 UAH. A boiler for heating cubic meter of water will spend 46,25 kWh. A cubic meter of hot water now with a water heater will cost 73 of the hryvnia, and after Mar – 91 hryvnia 13 cents. Thus, to heat water a boiler would be beneficial only until March of this year.

And in addition to the boiler, what else are wasting a lot of electricity?

Most energy is spent on lighting of the apartment. If the lamp power of 75 W in the hallway for two hours a day, in the toilet – an hour in the bathroom 3 hours in the kitchen – 5 hours in the room – 6 hours per month only for “light” typed 65,2 kW.
What are the most wasted of electricity:

  • Refrigerator: 30 kWh per month
  • 5 kW of microwave (if you use 10 minutes a day)
  • Washing machine: 18 kWh (if used three hours per week)
  • Kettle: 11,25 kWh (if the daily use of 15 minutes)
  • TV: 9 kWh (if every day to watch TV for three hours)
  • Computer: 45 kWh (to use a powerful computer for three hours a day)
  • Iron: 6 kW*hours (use hours / week)
  • Hairdryer 6.4 kW*hours (use hours / week)

We will remind, this year in Ukraine according to the Memorandum with the IMF may revise the tariff for natural gas. According to experts, it can rise by 25-30%. In addition, in 2017, on average, 15% more expensive cold water.
