Poroshenko said NATO Secretary General on the difficult situation in the Donbas, he promised to help

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko discussed with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, the situation in the Donbass, and also agreed to intensify work under the task of NATO trust funds in support of the Ukrainian state. About it reports a press-service of the head of state.

Poroshenko has informed Secretary General of NATO about the security situation in the Donbas and the escalation of tension in the area of Avdeevka. The President also thanked Stoltenberg for a clear position condemning the aggressive policy of Russia and its actions in the Donbas and noted the importance of maintaining transatlantic unity in confronting the ongoing aggression of Russia.

The head of state stressed the importance of practical support that NATO gives to Ukraine to strengthen the defense and security sector reform and defence in accordance with the standards of the Alliance.

In turn, Stoltenberg stressed that NATO halted practical cooperation with Russia, also supports the sanctions until the full implementation by Russia of the Minsk agreements.

At the meeting it was agreed to intensify further the work within the target of NATO trust funds in support of Ukraine.

Poroshenko also invited the delegation of the North Atlantic Council to visit Ukraine in 2017.
