High representative of the European Union for foreign Affairs and security policy Federica Mogherini on Monday expressed concern over the deteriorating situation in the Donbass.
“The EU will continue to support Ukraine, focusing directly on providing services to the population. We want to ensure that the conditions and the situation in Ukraine improve for the people”, – said Mogherini at a press conference in Brussels on Monday.
However, she stressed that the required improvement in the security situation in Ukraine.
“The situation in the East (of Ukraine – ed.) the last days was the reason for our extraordinary concern. When we call for the full implementation of the Minsk agreements, we again confirm expectations that the clashes will cease and effectively begin the process of peaceful settlement”, – she said at a press conference in Brussels.
In addition, according to her, the meeting of foreign Ministers of EU countries in Brussels reiterated their willingness to actively support the work of colleagues within the framework of the Normandy format and the Organization for security and cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
Mogherini noted that during the meeting of foreign Ministers of EU countries discussed the support of reforms in Ukraine, in particular in the socio-economic sphere and in the sphere of fight against corruption, which the EU believes key.
