The lawyers of the former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych’s appeal to the European court of human rights (ECHR) in the case of his in absentia conviction. This was stated by the lawyer Yanukovych Vitaly Serdyuk.
According to him, such treatment is lawful after the refusal of the Kyiv court of Appeals to consider the appeal of Yanukovych to the court of first instance, which was given permission for special (accelerated) investigation against fugitive ex-President.
“Protection today received indisputable grounds for immediate appeal to the ECHR on the case of treason. Today’s unprecedented denial of the Appeal court to start consideration of the complaint of protection to the decision of the Pechersk district court according to the special (accelerated) investigation is sufficient to prove”, – said Serdyuk.
He also added that the decision of Appellate court of Kiev will be put as the primary evidence “of political pressure on the judicial system in Ukraine” in this case.
We will remind, the head of the administration of ex-President Viktor Yanukovych Andriy Klyuyev and former head of the government Mykola Azarov has declared his responsibility for events in Ukraine in 2014 and about his mistakes during his stay in power.
