The gap of the Minsk agreements will entail a lot of heavy consequences for Ukraine, including international. This was stated in an interview LIGA.net the representative of Ukraine in the Trilateral contact group on settling the situation in Donbas Yevhen Marchuk.
According to him, another format of negotiations to seek difficult, although in the future when a catastrophic development of events in the Donbass, instigated by the open Russian aggression, is not excluded.
“If Ukraine initiates a new format, and the leaders of major countries that support Ukraine, say that the Minsk process, there is no alternative, it will mean that Ukraine destroys even this imperfect format. This would mean that all arrangements of this format cease to exist, and a whole Armada of heavy weapons from both sides returned to the front across the front line with a length of 426 kilometers, and shelled the rear to a depth of 100 kilometers and more. Other consequences no less severe: the destruction of vital infrastructure, stopped the exchange of hostages, close all the KPVV, and reveals many other serious consequences. I’m not talking about the international losses of Ukraine”, – said Marchuk.
He also explained that if it were a newly signed agreement under the auspices of another format, the items in it would be the same as in the existing Minsk agreements.
“The problem is not the format, and the fulfillment by Russia of the agreements reached. And if someone believes that the new US President, trump is now only thinking of how to directly get into a hot military conflict in Ukraine and Russia, he is very wrong. We should rejoice in the fact that the new US Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, that is representative of the current administration, trump spoke at the last meeting of the UN security Council in support of Ukraine and, in essence, reiterated the old U.S. position, and in relation to the Crimea, and the war in the Donbass and sanctions. Good signal, but this is only the beginning,” – said Marchuk.
Recall, February 1, the Trilateral contact group on settling the situation in the Donbass held a meeting, which called for a complete cease-fire and the diversion of arms to the line indicated by the Memorandum of 19 September 2014.
In turn, the Kremlin assure that there is no alternative to the Minsk agreements on the settlement of the conflict in the Donbas and believes it is the only way to stop the war.
