The wall between the Northern and southern part of the city of Kosovska Mitrovica, in the partially recognized Republic of Kosovo dismantled on Sunday. About it reports the Serbian edition of the RTS.
A two-meter fence in front of the bridge over the river Ibar appeared in December 2016. Prefect of the Northern part of the city, where live mostly Serbs, said that the wall was built for security.
However, local residents embraced the idea negatively, believing that it leads to the final division of Kosovska Mitrovica.
New bridge built on the site of the old EU funds, – the main artery connecting the Northern Serbian and southern Albanian part of the city. With the construction of the wall turned out that the European project comes to a standstill.
The dismantling lasted for about an hour with the help of two excavators and passed without any incidents.

Earlier, the President of Serbia said that “ready to send troops to Kosovo to protect the Serbs“. His statement was a reaction to the incident with the Serbian train that passed through the territory of Kosovo on January 14.
Train Belgrade–Kosovska Mitrovica, on which was written “Kosovo is Serbia”, had to return to Serbia for reasons of security after Kosovo Albanians carried out a series of provocations in the way of its movement.
