Serbia will not introduce sanctions against Russia even if it becomes an EU member – Vice-speaker

Serbia will not introduce sanctions against Russia even if it becomes an EU member. This was stated by Vice-speaker of the Parliament of Serbia Gordana, Comic.

“We would not impose sanctions against Russia, even if it gained membership in the EU. It is our conscious choice,” she said.

According to the Vice-speaker said that Serbia itself is six years under sanctions and know what it is.

“We survived it, and so do not want anyone repeating this way,” said Chomic.

“I’m sure it’s (sanctions) does not affect the aggressor. We need to understand that sanctions do not achieve the stated goal, but only harm ordinary people,” she said.

Earlier, first Deputy Prime Minister and foreign Minister of Serbia Ivica Dacic said that EU pressure on Serbia to join the anti-Russian sanctions is unacceptable.
