The decision to cancel the EU sanctions against Russia will not be accepted in Washington and Brussels. This was stated today, 19 January, EU high representative for foreign Affairs and security policy Federica Mogherini.
“We, along with the American friends are committed to the implementation of the Minsk agreements. As soon as they are done – the sanctions will be lifted. And this decision is made not in Washington but in Brussels,” said Mogherini reporters on the sidelines of the world economic forum in Davos.
Previously elected President of the United States Donald trump in an interview, did not rule out the possibility of cancelling the anti-Russian sanctions, if Moscow will go towards further disarmament.
“Sanctions are not a mandatory part of our policy, and the way to improve the situation in Ukraine”, – said Mogerini.
“We cooperate with Russia on many issues. Our attitude to some of them, such as the situation in Ukraine is seriously different,” said EU high representative for foreign Affairs and security.
