The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko hopes that the new US administration headed by President Donald trump will assist Ukraine in its struggle for independence.
“I think the President trump must now unite to use its influence to support us in our struggle for independence and democracy,” he said in an interview with Bloomberg during his visit to Davos.
According to him, the positive result of these efforts will be the situation when Russia withdraws its troops from Ukraine and release of Crimea.
“At least, I think the window of opportunity still exists. In this context, the Americans support this idea”, – said Poroshenko.
“We use the opportunity in our hands to motivate Russia to take them away from our territory,” – said the head Ukrainian state.
According to him, Kiev is using political and diplomatic tools, but at the same time builds a strong army, implements the reforms in the country, uses legal instruments, including recourse to international courts.
Recall that 20 January Donald trump will officially take the post of President of the United States.
