It is currently unknown how productive will be the visit of Vice-President of the United States Joe Biden to Ukraine on January 15, because it is unclear how this can be interpreted by the new Administration of Donald trump. Comments about this “Segodnya” said the Director of the Institute of world policy Alyona Hetmanczuk.
“This Biden’s visit was scheduled several months. As far as I know, discussed different dates, they were constantly shifted. The Vice President made Ukraine one of the key directions of his Vice-presidency, some people in his entourage even called her “pet project” of Biden. It is commendable that he would come and offer words of support. But I don’t know how the visit added value because it is unknown how this may be interpreted, for example by the new Administration. We are in such a situation that in order to get support for the new Administration, not necessarily to advertise and demonstrate the affection of the old Administration to Ukraine. Therefore, this visit may boomerang to play in the context of establishing contacts with the new Administration if it is interpreted by them that Ukraine was the favorite child of the old Administration directly to the Vice-President Biden,” – said Alain Getmanchuk.
We will remind, today, the press service of the presidential administration of Ukraine reported that on January 15 Poroshenko will hold a meeting with the Vice-President of the USA Joseph Biden in the framework of his visit to Ukraine.
