During the first days of the new year died from influenza six people in Ukraine

Six people died from flu in Ukraine over the last week, with 2 to 8 January 2017. About it reports a press-service of the Ministry of health of Ukraine.

“In 1 week was 6 deaths from flu: in Cherkasy, Donetsk regions 1, Zaporizhia, Lviv – 2 cases, including 1 child”, – is spoken in the message of Ministry of health with reference to the information Center for influenza and acute respiratory viral infections of the state institution “Ukrainian center of control and disease monitoring” on Wednesday.

During the first week of 2017 influenza and SARS ill 227 250 thousand people, of whom 52.6 per cent were children under the age of 17.

The incidence of influenza and SARS (total) among the population of Ukraine is 587,5 per 100 thousand population, which is 32.2% less than last week.

“You can see a natural tendency to decrease morbidity in the first week of the year, due to new year holidays and vacations in the educational institutions, however, may not reflect the real picture,” – noted in the Ministry of health.

In the first week of 2017 intensive morbidity exceeded the epidemic threshold in 13 regions of Ukraine.

The highest incidence of influenza and SARS registered in Volyn – 945,0 per 100 thousand population, the lowest – in Luhansk oblasts – 136,9 per 100 thousand population.

Among persons who seek medical assistance, decreased need for hospitalization of 5.9%. Most often in medical care in hospital needed children under 4 years, the report says.
