Ukraine must prepare for a full-scale Russian offensive in their territory, at least for the moment, the likelihood of this scenario is small.
This was stated by the Professor of political science Rutgers University Newark, American historian, writer and artist of Ukrainian origin Alexander Motyl in an interview with the online edition of “Apostrophe”.
In his opinion, the newly elected President of the United States Donald trump “consciously or unconsciously” may provoke Russian President Vladimir Putin to expand the Russian zone of influence in Eastern Europe.
The scientist said that the West is not ready for a confrontation with Russia over the possible takeover of Eastern Europe.
“If the offensive on the Baltic States, Belarus, Ukraine, are likely the loud statements of protest, possibly tougher sanctions. Putin certainly knows that,” said Alexander Motyl.
We will remind, recently Alexander Motyl blog for the Atlantic Council said that recent evidence suggests that Russia may be planning a major ground operation against Ukraine.
Also, the analyst believes that if Russia decides to try to conquer the whole of Ukraine, the Kremlin will take up to 866 thousand troops, the loss will be huge on both sides.
