EU high representative for the common foreign and security policy Federica Mogherini chose Ukraine as one of their priorities for 2017, as well as summarized the work in Ukraine in the past year. This was reported on its website.
According to her, it was a year of constant work to support reform, economic growth, peace and stability on the Eastern borders of the EU.
“First and foremost in Ukraine, large joint efforts to reform the country, fight corruption and, of course, to achieve full implementation of the Minsk agreements to end the conflict in the East of the country. Regarding Ukraine and Georgia, we have made important steps towards liberalization of the visa regime”, – stated in the message.
In addition, Mogherini said that the message of her work with the Eastern partners aimed at reforms for the people, not to fight with anyone.
“And the work goes on with all our Eastern partners – Moldova, Belarus, Armenia and Azerbaijan. We do so in full accordance with the priorities and political choices of each country. It is a partnership for reform, for our citizens, and not a partnership “against” someone – on the contrary, it is an important element in the direction of greater regional cooperation”, – stated in the message.
Except for Ukraine European politician also named other priorities will be given preference in 2017. So, it will deal with migration issues, a real partnership with Africa, will be working on the future of Syria, the security and defence of the EU, peace and friendship with Colombia, the solution to the problems between Israel and Palestine, working on the agreement with Iran, Afghanistan, continued cooperation with the Balkan countries, Cuba, the strengthening of contacts with the United States.
