In a recent speech, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the end of world war II, the Russian head of state Vladimir Putin, in particular, explained the reasons for the conclusion of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact in August 1939. If you carefully read the text of the speech, it is easy to see that it is literally Packed with various facts, which are specially prepared historians. The main argument of Putin is: a non-aggression Pact between the USSR and Germany signed in 1939, was the result of numerous attacks of the West on the Soviet Union, against which he was defenseless.
The main “sin” of the Western powers against the Russian, in his opinion, was the Munich agreement of 1938, which he very accurately called “Munich conspiracy”, because it led to the partition of Czechoslovakia. On the agreement worked, the Prime Ministers of Britain and France, as well as the dictators Mussolini and Hitler, while the USSR was opposed, but it is simply not allowed to negotiations. Unlike Poland, whose leadership supported Hitler annexed Czech border town of Tesin, which played an important strategic role as a transport hub. “Poland, too, circling like a vulture over the Czech corpse,” commented Winston Churchill in his memoirs.
In the 1930-ies the West has repeatedly humiliated the Soviet Union. The humiliation and the political reaction of Stalin, they can be assessed in different ways. In particular, it relates to agreed with Nazi Germany in secret protocols, Stalin’s annexations of 1939-1940.
However, it should also be noted that Putin has said about this (even a bit pompous): “But let me also remind you that the Soviet Union gave a legal and a moral evaluation of so — called Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. The resolution of the Supreme Soviet of 24 December 1989, officially condemned the secret protocols as “an act of personal power,” does not reflect “the will of the Soviet people, who are not responsible for this conspiracy””.
Why almost none of our media did not mention this passage?
More important than the past, I personally think that Putin’s speech is subtitled “Shared responsibility before history and the future”. He talked about the terrible “yesterday”, referring to the present. He urged the West to stop, finally, to humiliate Russia! Talk to us! Do not call us “weakening regional power”!
He elaborated imposed on Germany in the 1919 Treaty of Versailles. “It is a national humiliation formed the breeding ground for radical and revanchist sentiment in Germany” — quite rightly said Putin. It is possible that he assumes that in Russia can also climb radicalized.
