Ukraine must do everything possible that Russia could not use the introduction of the peacekeeping mission in the Donbass for their own purposes, in particular to legitimize the insurgents and their forces. This was explained in an interview with “UKRINFORM” foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin.
“We briefed the UN Security Council and all the partners about the logic of our position, and any official projects (resolution) will apply after the details, discuss with all your friends and partners. Otherwise there is a risk that Russia will try to use this situation to either weaken the mandate of the future mission, or to negotiate with different partners separately. Although, of course, the draft resolution we have long been ready. In March 2015 the President of Ukraine officially sent to the UN Secretary General and the President of the UN Security Council the appropriate treatment. And this letter was circulated as an official document of the UN security Council,” – said the diplomat.

He noted that previously agreed with Western colleagues, that before you enter the peacekeepers, would be to discuss the mission’s mandate, time frame, how to negotiate with Russia.
“We must not leave any loopholes so that Russia could use this situation to further distortion of the logic of the peacekeeping mission in the Donbas. It lies in the fact that Russia, with all the weapons and the mercenaries to leave Donbass, there must come an international contingent and, accordingly, to begin the transitional period that Ukraine was fully back in the Ukrainian legal and not only legal space. And, of course, there can be no question of legitimizing Russian protectorate and territorial limits of the mission’s mandate. It should cover all of the occupied territory and uncontrolled part of the Russian-Ukrainian border”, – said Klimkin.

We will remind, recently in mass media there was information that allegedly Russia proposes to create an armed small arms, the UN mission to protect OSCE observers in Eastern Ukraine for an initial period of six months after the withdrawal of troops and military equipment from the contact line.
In turn, the permanent representative of Ukraine to the United Nations Volodymyr Yelchenko said earlier that Russia in the UN draft resolution no relationship to peacemaking in the Donbass does not.
