Reserves of natural gas in the Ukrainian underground gas storages (UGS) from 26 June to 1 July rose 3.4%, or 386 million cubic meters – up to 11,592 billion cubic meters with 11,206 billion cubic meters this is evidenced by the operator of the gas transportation system of Ukraine state company “Ukrtransgaz”.
Daily volume of gas injection into underground storage facilities as of July 1, amounted to about 52 million cubic meters.
From November 2015, Ukraine does not buy gas directly from the Russian “Gazprom”, because all imported fuel to arrive in the country on the reverse.
Earlier, the Minister of energy and coal industry Igor Nasaliki declared plans to accumulate in UGS of Ukraine by 1 October 2017 17 billion cubic meters of gas during the heating season 2017-2018.
In preparation for the heating period 2016-2017, the Ministry also insisted on the need to accumulate 17 billion cubic meters of gas, while the leadership of “Naftogaz of Ukraine” claimed that 14.5 billion cubic meters would be sufficient. As a result, during the heating season the period of 2016-2017 years, Ukraine was included with the reserves of natural gas at the level of 14.7 billion cubic meters and finished the season with 8.4 billion cubic meters.
