Recently field investigators of management of economic protection in Sumy region and investigators from the regional Prosecutor’s office caught the head of one of village councils of Yampil district in an attempt to obtain a bribe. As militiamen established, the 27-year-old officer agreed to help the asking citizen to solve the land question, but instead asked for 28 thousand hryvnias as compensation, according to the Agency.

For this money the official promised to consider the village Council session the question on allocation of land, which was in municipal property, and also to contribute to the positive decision on it.
At the moment the competent authorities decide on the detention of the head of the village Council. For receiving undue benefits (article 38 of the criminal code), he may face imprisonment in rows from five to 10 years with confiscation of property and with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term up to three years.
