The aggressive policy of Russia has led to the activation of the structures of the Alliance and forced him to demonstrate his ability to take decisive action, said the Vice-Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine Ivanna klympush-Tsintsadze.
Deputy Prime Minister in his article for publication ZN.UA noted that in contrast to the European Union, which is experiencing a systemic crisis, NATO today is only growing.
“In the European Union trends of the present — day disintegration and euroscepticism. However, NATO “wakes up”: it is impossible not to notice the activation of all the structures of the block, displaying the ability to take decisive steps (for example, sending a military contingent in the Baltics, expansion in Poland and Romania), efficient search for adequate answers to new types of threats (including cyber-attacks and information provocations). In the face of Russia the Alliance — apparently for the first time since the collapse of the Soviet Union — had the enemy: a real, tangible and geographically localized,” – said klympush-Tsintsadze.
According to her, today, no one in NATO has no illusions about events in Ukraine.
Vice Prime Minister also stressed that Ukraine’s integration into NATO is a way of creating a modern efficient army. “This process is already underway, and cooperation with NATO is now playing a key role,” she writes.
Klympush-Tsintsadze also noted that NATO standards provide not only an efficient army, but a defensive and transparent budget, the elimination of corruption in public procurement for defence needs, technical re-equipment of troops and readiness for new types of threats, generating a hybrid type of war.
As reported, NATO has transferred to Poland a hundred of their tanks because of the threat of Russia.
