The basic truth about Russian President Vladimir Putin, which President trump apparently doesn’t understand is that Putin is taking revenge. He believes that the United States had destroyed his former country, the Soviet Union. He likes to make US suffer in Afghanistan and everywhere.
Trump on their own perception of Putin — in a much more rosy light. Perhaps trump’s assistants on national security were afraid to upset him.
As regards the armed forces, trump has the ability, the opposite abilities of Midas. All he has to do, tarnish. During the first 15 years of the US war in Afghanistan, where our former allies were now mortal enemies, Russian us played along. They are happy to allow the Americans to kill those Islamist militants, who used United States supplied weapons to kill Russians.
