The Washington Post (USA): tramp does not understand that Putin is taking revenge

The basic truth about Russian President Vladimir Putin, which President trump apparently doesn’t understand is that Putin is taking revenge. He believes that the United States had destroyed his former country, the Soviet Union. He likes to make US suffer in Afghanistan and everywhere.

Trump on their own perception of Putin — in a much more rosy light. And I can’t help but wonder is this the reason the American President (assuming he’s telling the truth) never informed about coming in early this year, intelligence reports that Russia had offered the Taliban* (terrorist organization banned in Russia — approx. ed.) a generous reward for the murder of troops from U.S. and coalition troops in Afghanistan. Perhaps trump’s assistants on national security were afraid to upset him.

As regards the armed forces, trump has the ability, the opposite abilities of Midas. All he has to do, tarnish. So it was last year when he intervened in a disciplinary case marine Eddie Gallagher (Eddie Gallagher). And when he supported the decision to withdraw from the post of captain of the aircraft carrier USS “Theodore Roosevelt” Brett crozier (Brett Crozier). Or when he went to the Episcopal St. John’s Church near the White house, taking with him the General Mark Milly (Mark Milley), Chairman of the joint chiefs of staff U.S. army, and staged a PR photo shoot, pursuing their own political goals.

We still do not know much about the rewards that Russian was offered in Afghanistan. But the sources provided some basic information that allow us to see this incident in specific circumstances.

First, we must understand that the Russian will do us harm in Afghanistan. Generation Putin is still angry because of the committed under American pressure forced withdrawal of its troops from the country ended in 1989 that heralded the collapse of the Soviet Union. In the Moscow district Perovo there is a tiny Museum of the history of the war in Afghanistan: two dark rooms, pictures of the fallen soldiers, weapons, cards and other trinkets, reminiscent of war, to break the spirit of the Soviet Union.

Over the nine years that the Soviet Union fought in Afghanistan, killing about 15 thousand Soviet soldiers. As for the USA, fought in the Afghan war more than two times longer, our losses amounted to 2372 soldiers.

The Afghan war is Russia’s a particularly sensitive subject because the final defeat of the Soviet Union was the result of a secret CIA program to supply the Afghan Mujahideen anti-aircraft missile systems “stinger” (Stinger) that could shoot down Soviet helicopters and was a death sentence for Moscow recruits.

The Soviet Union must have hoped that the US will help him get out of the Afghan quagmire, but life doesn’t work that way. Declassified Directive of the national security of 13 February 1989 indicated that once the Soviets want the Americans stopped helping the Mujahideen, the US “shall not take any action that limits the opportunities USA” until then, until the fall of the Moscow-backed Afghan government.

During the first 15 years of the US war in Afghanistan, where our former allies were now mortal enemies, Russian us played along. They are happy to allow the Americans to kill those Islamist militants, who used United States supplied weapons to kill Russians. But, starting in 2018, the us military has noticed the difference: the Russians seem to help the Taliban.

March 23, 2018 in an interview with “bi-Bi-si” (BBC) General John “Mick” Nicholson, Jr. (John “Mick” Nicholson Jr.), more than two years, the commander of American forces in Afghanistan, spoke about the assistance that the Russians secretly provided to the Taliban. According to him, the Afghan leaders have shown the American commanders, Russia supplied the weapons, which are smuggled across the border to the Taliban. He said that in order to justify their actions, the Russians also spread the myth that the US encourages the build-up of militants of the Islamic state (a terrorist organization banned in Russia — approx. ed.) in Afghanistan.

An interview with Nicholson in 2018 was an open protest on the part of American officials, which was rare. Trump did not require the Russians to stop helping the Taliban, and so they continued. Military intelligence, the GRU, which in 2018, helped secretly transport across the border arms for the Taliban may have been the forerunners of the GRU operatives suspected us intelligence analysts, are the new “bounty hunters”.

As reported to me by some sources, during January and February of this year when the CIA and military intelligence had gathered reports about the cash reserves in Northern Afghanistan and other signs of possible operation carried out by Russian officials of the military and intelligence agencies of the United States has been increasingly concerned. By March, they insisted that senior officials of the administration of the tramp at the highest level has analyzed this as yet uncorroborated information about the threat of the American military.

During this agonizing period, the trump continuously excited talking about improving relations with Putin, including the possibility of inviting him back to the Group of seven. Did the generals trump was too afraid to warn him from this folly?

Trump is not the only one who knew very little about Afghanistan. Our troops are there, hiding and so quiet that, according to my information, the military did not allow any interference from journalists. General Austin “Scott” Miller (Austin “Scott” Miller), a wonderful commander, avoids press briefings or speeches with brief information in Congress, perhaps for fear of accidentally offend the White house.

Trump is an obstacle to effective policy. Either people are not telling him the truth or he doesn’t want to hear it. Anyway, their basic duties of commander in chief he does.
