In Ukraine Avakov expect disclosure of resonant murder, otherwise it may be dismissed
President Vladimir Zelensky at a press conference said that demands from the Minister of internal Affairs Arsen Avakov disclosure of the most resonant crimes in Ukraine, in particular, the murder of journalist Pavel Sheremet.
The head of state answered the questions of why Avakov remained in power, when it twice changed the composition of the government, and under what conditions it can be dismissed.
“Avakov is not my cousin, not my close friend. On the contrary, he has close friends, which I’m definitely not a friend. Powerful does he Minister? Yes. Difficult if the current situation? I think, Yes. But his responsibility is a matter of Sheremet. He started this business – it needs to bring it to the end, to result. To all who really killed Sheremet, was punished… with regard to the case of Sheremet, it is more difficult, and we understand that. Straightforward or not, I don’t know… I’ll come all the cases where you need support of the President. But the court needs to understand. Now this case is the interior Minister Arsen Avakov, that’s his business. And he’s responsible for the outcome of this case. If the investigation, then the court will prove that the suspects killers, they will go to jail. If not, you will be responsible those who brought this case to court and accused innocent people,” said Zelensky.
He also commented on the murder of activist Catherine Gandzyuk.
“For my cadence people who are killed, imprisoned. There are questions of who ordered. We have the answer, we know who. The case has been submitted to the court and the court, I am sure, will give a just verdict, and customers – not a customer, and customers going to jail. The last step left is the court. To put pressure on the court, we can’t, but will do everything to be fair”, – said the head of state.
