America has promised to support Ukraine in opposing Russia’s aggression
The Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba and US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo held a telephone conversation discussed the latest negotiations on the Donbass “Norman format” at the Ministerial level. About it reports a press-service of the Department of state.
The Secretary of state praised the work of Ukrainian diplomats on the background of Russian aggression and the continuing conflict in the Donbas. Pompeo promised continued support from the United States Ukraine and stressed that America will continue to put pressure on Russia, including sanctions as long as Moscow does not fulfill the Minsk agreements and will not cease its occupation of Crimea.
Pompeo and Kuleba also discussed the fight against coronavirus. The American diplomat has condemned efforts by Russia and its representatives on the use of pandemic COVID-19 to spread disinformation and further restrict the movement of OSCE observers and humanitarian organizations in the Donbass.
As reported “Today”, 30 April took place negotiations in the “Norman format” level of foreign Ministers. The head of the foreign Ministry of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba said that the Trilateral contact group will have to discuss the details of the new truce in the Donbass and to determine the date.
At the same time, the Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov reminded that the Paris agreements partially implemented only one condition – the exchange of prisoners. However, he noted that Ukraine has not enacted “a formula Steinmeier”. And in France urged to facilitate access of humanitarian aid to occupied Donbas.
