The militants “smuggling” tanks: Lavrov said Putin-style

The diplomat denied a possible Russian military support to the militants

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov on the results of the negotiations in the “Normandy format” has explained to journalists that the weapons and equipment gets to the militants in the Donbass smuggling. He said this at a press conference.

He was asked to explain the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin about how Russian-backed militants in the Donbas receive military equipment from countries that are “sympathetic to them”, to which he replied: “what About the tanks and artillery everywhere, and we can talk about this for a long time, wherever there are conflicts, you receive the smuggled weapons.”

The Minister asked who else except Russia is supplying weapons to the Donbass, to which he indignantly replied and explained that Russian weapons can be anyone.

“Who told you that Russia is supplying? Russian weapons are available around the world – Kalashnikov, and artillery systems are produced, including in Eastern Europe, in several other countries. This gun is walking around the world quite freely,” – said the Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

We will remind, in December of 2019 during the annual big press conference Vladimir Putin cynically joked to the question of Ukrainian journalist about the tanks. The Russian President also told about some “supplies” from “sympathetic States”. Watch the video:

As reported “Today”, earlier ex-the Minister of defence Stepan Poltorak told me that in the occupied territories from the militants more than 700 Russian tanks, in connection with which the Ukrainian military-industrial complex has focused on anti-tank systems. At the same time, interior Minister Arsen Avakov said that the Russian tanks on Donbass more than there are in the army of Britain.

In a similar spirit spoke and the former US Ambassador to Ukraine Kurt Volker. He said that at the Donbass Russian tanks more than all of Western Europe combined.
